C is for Condom Resistance Techniques

Condom Resistance Techniques are tactics employed to avoid condom use.

Condoms have a bad reputation as mood and sensation killers, but if used correctly they are THE most effective tool available to protect against STD transmission and shouldn't reduce pleasure or enjoyment.  

However although this is common knowledge, we still suck at using condoms.  You right now, reading this, there's a very good chance that at least once in your life, you have had an encounter where you should have used a condom but you didn't.

A big concern is that a really commonly given reason for not using condoms is persuasion from a sexual partner, and this is where condom resistance techniques are used.

A recent study checked out the use of 10 different resistance tactics amongst a sample of young men in Washington State.  That is whether they had used the tactic and successfully managed to have unprotected sex with a woman who had initially wanted to use a condom.

80% of the 313 men in the study reported using one or more of the 10 tactics during their lifetime.

So there you have it.  If you want to have safe sex, have safe sex.  Watch out for any of these techniques being used on you, and be prepared to fight back with your own condom resistance tactics resistance tactics.
